Product description

Immerse yourself in the exquisite world of classical chamber music with Aurèle Nicolet's 1986 album, "Salieri/Stamitz/Cimarosa: Concertos for Flute & Oboe." This captivating collection showcases the virtuosity of Aurèle Nicolet on the flute and Heinz Holliger on the oboe, accompanied by the renowned Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by Kenneth Sillito.

The album features a stunning array of concertos composed by Antonio Salieri, Carl Stamitz, and Domenico Cimarosa, each offering a unique blend of elegance, passion, and technical brilliance. The concertos are performed with impeccable precision and artistic sensitivity, highlighting the rich interplay between the flute and oboe.

The album opens with Salieri's Concerto in C for Flute, Oboe, and Orchestra, a piece that immediately draws the audience in with its spirited Allegro spiritoso. The Largo movement offers a moment of serene reflection, while the Allegretto concludes the concerto with a lively and engaging finale.

Heinz Holliger's arrangement of the Concertante for Flute, Oboe, and Orchestra in G follows, showcasing the composers' innovative approach to the concerto form. The Allegro and Largo movements are particularly noteworthy, demonstrating the performers' ability to convey both exuberance and deep emotion.

The album concludes with Stamitz's Concerto in G for Flute, Oboe, and Orchestra, a piece that combines technical virtuosity with lyrical beauty. The Adagio movement is a standout, offering a moment of pure musical bliss, while the Rondo brings the album to a triumphant close.
