Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Anton Rubinstein with this remarkable album, released on July 8, 2016, by Centaur Records. This collection showcases Rubinstein's extraordinary talent and versatility, featuring two of his most notable works: the Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 25, and Don Quixote, Op. 87.

The Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 25, is a tour de force of romantic piano concertos, composed when Rubinstein was just 23 years old. This three-movement masterpiece is performed with exquisite skill by pianist Grigorios Zamparas, accompanied by the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Jon Ceander Mitchell. The concerto's dramatic opening Moderato, the lyrical Andante con moto, and the spirited Allegro non troppo movements are all rendered with precision and passion, highlighting Rubinstein's innovative compositional style.

The second half of the album is dedicated to Rubinstein's Don Quixote, Op. 87, a musical character portrait that brings to life the adventures of Miguel de Cervantes' iconic literary figure. This humoresque for orchestra is a delightful exploration of the quixotic knight's escapades, filled with wit, charm, and a touch of melancholy. The Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra brings this enchanting work to life with a performance that is both technically impressive and deeply expressive.

With a total runtime of 1 hour and 4 minutes, this album offers a comprehensive exploration of Rubinstein's musical genius. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this recording is sure to captivate and inspire. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the timeless beauty of Anton Rubinstein's music.
