About Witold Rowiki

Witold Rowicki, born in Taganrog, Russia, on February 26, 1914, was a distinguished Polish conductor who left an indelible mark on the classical music scene. His journey began at the Kraków Conservatory, where he honed his skills as a violinist and composer, graduating in 1938. Rowicki's career soared as he took on principal conducting positions with renowned orchestras such as the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. He is perhaps best known for founding and leading the Warsaw Philharmonic, cementing his status as one of the leading Polish conductors of his generation. Rowicki's repertoire spans Modern Classical, Romanticism, and Concerto genres, and his interpretations of Dvořák's symphonies are particularly celebrated. His work is a testament to his deep musical insight and his ability to captivate audiences with his profound and emotive performances.
