Product description

Immerse yourself in the rich, expressive world of Alessandro Rolla, an Italian composer and violinist whose contributions to classical music remain influential to this day. This album, released on December 28, 2018, under the Brilliant Classics label, offers a captivating journey through Rolla's works, featuring a selection of his viola concertos, a symphony, and a sacred piece. Spanning a total of 62 minutes, the album is a testament to Rolla's mastery of form and emotion, showcasing his ability to blend technical brilliance with deep musical expression.

The album opens with the Viola Concerto in F Major, BI 550, a three-movement work that highlights the viola's lyrical and dramatic capabilities. The first movement, Allegro, is a lively and engaging piece that sets the stage for the concerto's emotional journey. The second movement, Largo, is a slow, introspective piece that allows the soloist to explore the depths of the viola's expressive range. The third movement, Rondò, brings the concerto to a close with a lively and energetic finale.

Next, the album presents the Tantum ergo, BI 568, a sacred piece that showcases Rolla's ability to blend sacred and secular music. This short but powerful piece is a testament to Rolla's skill as a composer and his ability to evoke deep emotion in his listeners.

The album then moves on to the Sinfonia in D Major, BI 533, a three-movement work that showcases Rolla's ability to write for a full orchestra. The first movement, Allegro, is a lively and engaging piece that sets the stage for the symphony's emotional journey. The second movement, Andante grazioso, is a slow, introspective piece that allows the orchestra to explore the depths of its expressive range. The third movement, Presto, brings the symphony to a close with a lively and energetic finale.

Finally, the album concludes with the Viola Concerto in D Major, BI 543, another three-movement work that highlights the viola's lyrical and dramatic capabilities. The first movement, Allegro, is a lively and engaging piece that sets the stage for the concerto's emotional journey. The second movement, Adagio, is a slow, introspective piece that allows the soloist to explore the depths of the viola's expressive range. The third movement, Rondò, brings the concerto to a close with a lively and energetic finale.

Throughout the album, the performances by Il Demetrio, Simonide Braconi, and other musicians are nothing short of outstanding. Their technical skill and musical sensitivity bring Rolla's works to life, allowing listeners to fully appreciate the composer's genius. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire you. So sit back, relax, and let the music of Alessandro Rolla transport you to a world of beauty, emotion, and musical brilliance.
