Product description

Dive into the captivating world of Julius Röntgen's chamber music with the album "Right Through The Bone." Released in 2007 by RCA Red Seal, this collection showcases the brilliance of Röntgen's compositions, spanning a variety of ensembles and moods. The album features performances by the talented Artists of the Royal Conservatory, bringing to life Röntgen's intricate and expressive works.

The album opens with the Quintet for Piano and Strings in A Minor, Op. 100, a piece that exemplifies Röntgen's mastery of blending emotional depth with technical precision. The quartet movements, ranging from the serene "Andante" to the lively "Allegro," offer a rich tapestry of sounds that highlight the ensemble's virtuosity.

Following this, the Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano in E-flat Major adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. The trio's movements, including the "Andante" and the spirited "Allegro deciso," demonstrate Röntgen's ability to create engaging and dynamic pieces that captivate the listener.

The Sonata for Viola and Piano in C Minor is another standout, with its four movements offering a journey through a range of emotions. From the intense "Allegro assai" to the reflective "Andante mesto - lento, quasi fantasia," this sonata showcases Röntgen's ability to convey deep emotional resonance through his music.

The album concludes with the Sextet in G Major, a piece that brings together a larger ensemble to create a rich and vibrant sound. The four movements, including the lively "Allegro" and the intricate "Andante con variazioni," provide a fitting finale to this collection of Röntgen's chamber works.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 12 minutes, "Right Through The Bone" is a comprehensive exploration of Julius Röntgen's contributions to the chamber music repertoire. Whether you're a longtime fan of classical music or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, this album offers a rewarding and enriching listening experience.

About Julius Röntgen

Julius Röntgen, a German-Dutch composer of classical music, was a prolific artist with a vast body of work spanning nearly every genre. Born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1855, Röntgen's music is deeply rooted in romanticism, yet his 18th Symphony, composed in the early 1930s, showcases a resolutely tonal melody with a neo-baroque formal cast. With around 650 compositions to his name, Röntgen's symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and songs reflect his enduring influence in the classical music world. A friend of Liszt, Brahms, and Grieg, Röntgen's legacy continues to captivate audiences and musicians alike.
