About Reza Vali

Reza Vali is an acclaimed Iranian-American composer renowned for his distinctive cross-cultural style that seamlessly blends Persian musical heritage with contemporary Western classical traditions. Born in Qazvin, Iran, in 1952, Vali's musical journey began at the Tehran Conservatory before he ventured to Vienna to study at the Academy of Music. His academic pursuits culminated in a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, where he delved into composition and music theory. Vali's compositions, often described as a fusion of traditional Iranian music and modern classical elements, have earned him widespread recognition. His work is celebrated for its emotional depth and innovative approach, making him a standout figure in the world of chamber music. Currently, Vali resides in the United States, where he continues to inspire as a professor of composition at Carnegie Mellon University.
