Product description

Dive into the haunting and powerful world of Aribert Reimann's "Medea," a gripping operatic adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy. Released on May 3, 2011, under the Oehms Classics label, this two-hour-long masterpiece is a testament to Reimann's exceptional compositional prowess and his ability to convey deep emotional and psychological depths.

The album features a series of intense and dramatic arias and ensembles, showcasing the complex characters and their intertwining fates. The tracklist is divided into four acts, each filled with moments of high tension, tragic beauty, and raw human emotion. From the eerie opening of "Die Zeit der Nacht, der Zauber ist vorbei" to the chilling climax of "Nicht dir, den Gottern send ich sie!", Reimann's music masterfully underscores the timeless story of Medea's revenge and the devastating consequences of betrayal and vengeance.

Reimann's score is known for its modernist style, characterized by its dissonant harmonies and intricate rhythms, which add a layer of contemporary relevance to the ancient tale. The album is a must-experience for fans of opera, classical music, and those who appreciate the dramatic and the profound. Whether you're a seasoned opera enthusiast or new to the genre, "Medea" offers a compelling and unforgettable journey through one of the most tragic stories in Western literature.
