Wow, my perspective has totally changed! I never considered playing this at 33 until I saw the comments here. Now it seems so clear. Was Eno pulling our leg? Update: I've switched back to 45 now. It's just as great at both speeds.
Like others have mentioned, this one's way better at 33 RPM instead of the suggested 45 RPM. At 33, it's got that Ambient 4 and Apollo vibe. But at 45, it's kinda dull. Definitely give it a spin at 33, you won't regret it.
Featuring its sliding notes of 'tune', gentle wobble and easy-going hold, this album is akin to 'The Shutov Assembly'. While soothing, the track is quite lively and lacks some mystery or suspense. Maybe one of Eno's finer extended ambient works, yet it's a challenge to recommend it as proper listening music.
While not exactly revolutionary and perhaps a tad too reverby for my taste, this LP is fantastic and a solid addition to his ambient collection. It's a bit gloomier than Discreet Music and lacks the diversity found in the Ambient series. The pressing is very quiet.
Picked this up on sale and couldn't be happier! Slip it on and suddenly I'm engrossed in a book. I kept it spinning at 45rpm
