Product description

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of Maurice Ravel's "Ravel: 2 Concertos pour piano et orchestre & 2 Pièces pour piano seul," a mono version masterpiece released in 1956 by BNF Collection. This exquisite compilation showcases Ravel's unparalleled genius, featuring two piano concertos and two solo piano pieces that epitomize the neoclassical and classical genres.

The album opens with the Concerto pour piano in G Major, M. 83, a three-movement work composed between the summer of 1929 and November 1931. The Allegro iniziale sets a lively pace, followed by the Adagio assai, a deeply moving and introspective middle movement. The Presto finale brings the concerto to a thrilling close. The Concerto pour la main gauche, M. 82, is a testament to Ravel's innovative spirit, composed specifically for pianist Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right arm during World War I.

Complementing these concertos are two solo piano pieces: Menuet antique, M. 7, and Pavane pour une infante défunte in G Major, M. 19. These pieces are performed by the renowned Vlado Perlemuter, with Jascha Horenstein conducting the Orchestre Colonne. The album's duration of 51 minutes offers a concise yet comprehensive journey through Ravel's musical landscape.

Maurice Ravel, a French composer born in Ciboure on March 7, 1875, and passed away in Paris on December 28, 1937, is celebrated for his distinctive compositions that blend impressionism and neoclassicism. This album is a testament to his enduring legacy, capturing the essence of his musical brilliance. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to Ravel's works, this album promises a rich and rewarding listening experience.
