About Kartik Sheshadri

Kartik Seshadri is a world-renowned sitar virtuoso, composer, and educator, celebrated for his mastery of Indian classical music. Born in Madras, India, in 1957, Seshadri began playing the sitar at the tender age of six and quickly rose to prominence as a child prodigy. He studied under the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar, becoming his foremost disciple. Seshadri's music is deeply rooted in the Maihar gharana school of Hindustani music, known for its intricate melodies and rhythmic complexity. As a composer, he has created works that blend tradition with innovation, captivating audiences worldwide. Beyond his musical prowess, Seshadri is a dedicated educator, serving as the director of the Indian Classical Music Ensemble at the University of California, San Diego. His performances are a testament to his deep understanding and reverence for the sitar, making him a force to be reckoned with in the world of Indian classical music.
