Pepe de Lucía, born José Sánchez Gómez on September 25, 1945, in Algeciras, Spain, is a celebrated flamenco singer and songwriter whose voice is deeply rooted in the rich tradition of flamenco. Known for his grainy tenor, Pepe de Lucía has crafted a unique style that both honors and expands the boundaries of this passionate genre. As the son of flamenco guitarist Antonio Sánchez Pecino and the brother of the legendary Paco de Lucía, Pepe de Lucía's musical lineage is as impressive as his own career. Collaborating with his brother from 1959 to 1988, he also enjoys a distinguished solo career, marked by awards and critical acclaim. His work has been recognized with nominations, including a Best Historical Album nomination for "Pepito Y Paquito." Beyond his music, Pepe de Lucía has been honored with the Master of Mediterranean Music Award, celebrating his significant contributions to the cultural landscape. With a career spanning decades, Pepe de Lucía continues to captivate audiences with his authentic and innovative approach to flamenco.
