Got it fresh and unopened, but the sound wasn't quite right, so I gave it a wash and now it's playing flawlessly and quietly... awesome record!
Everything went smoothly with my pressing and it sounded fantastic! Too bad we didn't get that essay with it...
Absolutely love the sound! It's definitely one of my go-to albums to just sit back and unwind with. I have such fond memories of listening to the original from my Quake CD on my old mini hifi system. It's amazing to experience it all over again, but in a fresh format. I find it so interesting to pick out some of the warped noises and try to figure out where they came from. You can really hear the ocean crashing and even a fly buzzing on certain tracks! I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a listen (and make sure to look up those unreleased liner notes online, they're a real treat to read).
Listening to this gives me goosebumps—it's like my body's remembering that time when those creatures were chasing me, and I was frantically searching for just one more pack of NIN ammo for my nailgun...still gives me the heebie-jeebies 25 years down the line! This remaster is truly top-notch, I'd play this game with headphones on and there are fresh nuances in the music that I don't recall hearing so distinctly, if at all, so I'm genuinely thrilled with this version. Anyone who's a fan of the game or Nine Inch Nails ought to dig this release.
This pressing is incredibly well-made, with almost no surface noise, and the remastering truly brings out all the intricate details and subtle nuances. It's more than just a trip down memory lane; this is a fantastic dark ambient album in its own right. Right now, you can still grab a copy from the NIN store before having to rely on re-sellers here.
