Product description

Sampha's debut masterpiece, Process, is a poignant and deeply personal album that showcases the English singer's incredible talent. Released on 3 February 2017 by Young Turks, this 40-minute sonic journey is a testament to Sampha's unique ability to seamlessly blend electro-soul jams with soft, heartfelt ballads. Co-produced by Sampha and Scottish music producer Rodaidh McDonald, Process is a cinematic and honest portrayal of everyday pain, rendered with elegance and sensitivity.

The album's 10 tracks, including the stunning 'Plastic 100°C', 'Blood On Me', and the gorgeous ballad '(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano', demonstrate Sampha's impressive vocal range and delicate piano compositions. His vocal style, often looped to form rich choral arrangements, adds a layer of depth and intimacy to the album, making it a truly immersive experience.

After collaborating with notable artists such as Solange, Drake, Kanye, and Frank Ocean, Sampha's debut LP was highly anticipated, and it did not disappoint. Process went on to win the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2017, a well-deserved recognition of Sampha's talent and dedication to his craft. With Process, Sampha has created a work of art that is both a tribute to his parents and a testament to his own unique voice and vision. This critically acclaimed album is a must-listen for fans of soulful, electronic music and a testament to Sampha's status as a rising star in the music industry.

This is a 2024 Repress released as a LP.

  • Distorted Side B Disappointment

    2 out of 5 stars
    CizuC30January 11, 2026United States🇺🇸

The press has a clear sound, but I noticed that side B was quite distorted on my copy. This could be a problem with my hardware, though I'm not sure. Still, I was a bit let down, considering all the praise this pressing has been getting.

  • Vinyl Sounds Fantastic

    5 out of 5 stars
    KavpemManvpyJune 21, 2025United States🇺🇸

This is a fantastic pressing! The album sounds 100% better on vinyl, no doubt about it!

  • Sampha's Vocals Shine

    5 out of 5 stars
    oohotxatMay 1, 2024United States🇺🇸

Sampha's vocals shine on this record, but the piano's a bit off. It lacks that clear, crisp sound and can even come across as distorted at times. Still, it's not bad enough to spoil the tracks.

  • Rainbo Pressing Issues

    2 out of 5 stars
    gwqzxibkkJanuary 28, 2024United States🇺🇸

This album is truly outstanding and masterfully crafted, but this particular pressing from Rainbo is quite problematic. There's a constant surface noise and crackle that's really noticeable, and it's especially bothersome during the album's most delicate tracks. Songs like "The Piano" are particularly affected, with the piano sounding distorted at times. Even the louder parts have an annoying amount of distortion. Fortunately, the Optimal pressing doesn't have these issues. It's definitely worth the extra effort to find that version instead. Steer clear of this one.
