Play Bach No. 3 - Jacques Loussier

Product description

Jacques Loussier, a renowned classical pianist with a deep affection for the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, brings you "Play Bach No. 3," a captivating blend of classical elegance and jazz improvisation. Released in 2012 under the Isis label, this album is the third installment in the acclaimed "Play Bach" series, showcasing Loussier's unique ability to infuse Bach's timeless compositions with a fresh, jazzy twist.

The album features the Jacques Loussier Trio, with Loussier on piano, Pierre Michelot on bass, and Christian Garros on drums. Together, they breathe new life into Bach's masterpieces, including the "Concerto italien en Fa Majeur, BWV 971" and a selection of "Invention à deux voix" pieces. The trio's dynamic interplay and Loussier's virtuosic piano playing create a sound that is both respectful of the original compositions and innovatively modern.

"Play Bach No. 3" spans a diverse range of moods and tempos, from the lively "Allegro" to the contemplative "Andante," and the energetic "Finale." The album's duration is a concise 32 minutes, making it a perfect listen for both casual and dedicated fans of jazz and classical music. Whether you're a long-time admirer of Loussier's work or new to his unique style, this album offers a delightful exploration of Bach's music through the lens of jazz.

This LP was released in 1964.
