Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
This is an absolutely fantastic sounding record (I got the CD before the LP). Easily in my top 10% of all-time favorites. New Orleans R&B, Gospel, and Funk all mixed together. The recording, mixing, and mastering are all top-notch. Definitely worth the money if you manage to find a copy!
Here, it's more of a Jon Cleary album with John Scofield guesting than the other way around. But rest assured, there's ample Sco to enjoy! It's all about NOLA gospel, the kind of tunes you'd love to have playing in your hotel room on Frenchman Street on a Sunday morning. With George Porter, Jr. on bass and other New Orleans heavyweights, it's an easy pick for any collection. Give this a spin when you're not quite ready to shake your booty to a Meters album or your mind's not up for dissecting a Scofield record. It's a gorgeous listen, indeed.
