About Lester Flatt

Lester Flatt, born Lester Raymond Flatt on June 19, 1914, was a pioneering figure in bluegrass music, renowned for his distinctive guitar playing, warm singing voice, and engaging emceeing style. Best known for his partnership with banjo virtuoso Earl Scruggs, the duo Flatt and Scruggs became synonymous with traditional bluegrass, captivating audiences worldwide. Flatt's career began in the late 1930s, after working in textile mills, and he quickly rose to prominence as a member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys. His contributions to bluegrass and country music, both as a performer and a songwriter, left an indelible mark on the genre.
