I'm really diggin' this album and the live at five spot sessions, they're right up my alley when it comes to eric dolphy records. The sound quality is fantastic, and you honestly can't make a bad choice with those japanese victor pressings from the 70s and 80s.
I haven't had the chance to listen to the original or a mono version from this year, but this pressing is absolutely fantastic. I'd pick this over any modern reissue without hesitation. The tapes were just 12 years old at the time. It's not RVG, but it's still amazing, with great dynamics and clarity, especially if you can find a clean copy.
With each listen, I'm falling more in love with Eric Dolpy's tunes. This album is absolutely amazing and the sound quality is top-notch!
