Product description

The North Texas Wind Symphony presents "Noteworthy," a captivating album that seamlessly blends the old and the new in the world of classical wind ensemble music. Released on April 17, 2020, under the GIA WindWorks label, this album offers a unique listening experience that spans nearly an hour and fifteen minutes.

The ensemble, conducted by Eugene Migliaro Corporon, opens the album with a reflective piece, "Reflections on an Old Japanese Folk Song," setting a contemplative tone. They then dive into Paul Fauchet's "Symphony in B-Flat Major," a work originally composed in 1926 and masterfully arranged by S. Kitelinger for this recording. The symphony unfolds in four distinct movements, each offering a different mood and tempo, showcasing the versatility and skill of the North Texas Wind Symphony.

The album continues with two intense and evocative pieces, "Ghosts of the Old Year," composed by Philip Sparke. These pieces, titled "Calm, Determined" and "Ferocious, Intense," provide a stark contrast to the earlier works, demonstrating the ensemble's ability to tackle a wide range of musical styles and emotions.

The final piece on the album is the "Symphony No. 2 'Voices'" by Stephen L. Roberts. This three-movement work, titled "Of Passion," "Shouts and Murmurs," and "Of One," is a testament to the ensemble's cohesion and musicality. Each movement builds upon the last, culminating in a powerful and unforgettable finale.

"Noteworthy" is not just a collection of songs, but a journey through time and musical styles, showcasing the North Texas Wind Symphony's exceptional talent and versatility. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
