Product description

Dive into the enchanting world of classical music with Sebastian Comberti's "Mozartiana," a captivating album released on November 25, 2003, under the Cello Classics label. This 58-minute journey showcases Comberti's virtuosity and deep connection with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as well as his own compositions.

The album opens with Mozart's Cello Sonata in B-Flat Major, Op. 11, a three-movement piece that highlights Comberti's technical prowess and expressive depth. The first movement, Allegro, is a lively and engaging start, followed by the Adagio ma non troppo, a slower, more introspective piece. The third movement, Andante con variazioni on Mozart's "Là ci darem la mano," is a delightful set of variations that showcases Comberti's ability to bring out the nuances of Mozart's melodies.

Comberti's own composition, Andantino in B-Flat Major, K. 374g (completed by A. Isserlis), follows, offering a beautiful contrast to the Mozart pieces. This piece is a testament to Comberti's skill as a composer and his ability to create music that resonates with listeners.

The second half of the album features the Grand Duo for Cello & Piano in D Minor, Op. 31, another three-movement piece that showcases Comberti's dynamic range and versatility. The Adagio - Allegro molto opens with a slow, melancholic introduction that builds into a lively and energetic allegro. The Andante is a beautiful, introspective piece, while the Finale. Allegro is a lively and engaging conclusion to the album.

The album concludes with Comberti's Variazioni alla Monferina, Op. 54, a set of variations that showcases his ability to create music that is both technically challenging and emotionally resonant.

"Mozartiana" is a testament to Sebastian Comberti's skill as a cellist and his deep connection with the music of Mozart. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
