About Orchestre De La Société Des Concerts Du Conservatoire

L'Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire, founded in Paris in 1828, was a pioneering symphony orchestra that set the stage for classical music in France. Under the leadership of François-Antoine Habeneck and with the support of Luigi Cherubini, the orchestra delivered its inaugural concert on March 9, 1828, marking the beginning of a rich musical legacy. Active until 1967, this ensemble was the first of its kind in France, captivating audiences with performances of opera and classical masterpieces. Notable works by Debussy, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky, and Tchaikovsky were among the many treasures brought to life by this illustrious orchestra. After 1967, the orchestra evolved into the Orchestre de Paris, continuing its tradition of excellence.
