Product description

Dive into the captivating world of Ignaz Moscheles with this exquisite album, a masterful blend of his Cello Sonata in E Major, Op. 121, and the Melodic-Contrapuntal Studies, Op. 137. Released in 2003 under the Oehms Classics label, this collection offers a rich tapestry of chamber music that showcases Moscheles' unique compositional voice.

The album opens with the Cello Sonata in E Major, Op. 121, a work that spans four movements, each brimming with expressive depth and technical brilliance. From the impassioned Allegro espressivo e appassionato to the lively Finale: Allegro vivace, ma non troppo, this sonata is a testament to Moscheles' mastery of the form.

The second half of the album is dedicated to the Melodic-Contrapuntal Studies, Op. 137, a series of ten pieces inspired by Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier. These studies, performed with exquisite precision by Ramon Jaffé and Elisaveta Blumina, offer a fascinating exploration of counterpoint and melody, showcasing the duo's virtuosity and musical sensitivity.

With a total duration of just over an hour, this album is a treasure trove for fans of classical chamber music. The performances are impeccable, the recordings are of high quality, and the music is, quite simply, enchanting. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this album is sure to delight and inspire.
