It's not Oliver Nelson's fault for attempting to ride the wave of success from Blues And The Abstract Truth by using a comparable title for this album. Oddly, Nelson doesn't even perform on it; he merely composed a handful of tracks and handled the arrangements. That said, it's a strong album and a satisfying, rough-around-the-edges listen. The talented session musicians keep the energy high throughout. It might have come across as outdated with its big band arrangements, but Nelson largely steers clear of that pitfall.
Speakers Corner Records didn't put out this particular record, but the mastering quality is right up there with their usual work. Since there's never been an audiophile version of this title, this has to be the top-notch vinyl release you're gonna find.
