Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of classical music with "Milestones of Legends: Rudolf Kempe, Vol. 5." This exceptional album, released on March 27, 2020, under Intense Media GmbH, showcases the mastery of conductor Rudolf Kempe, offering a rich tapestry of compositions that span the genres of requiem, classical, and opera.

The album opens with Richard Strauss's "Don Quixote, Op. 35, TrV 184," a tone poem that vividly brings to life the adventures of the titular character through its ten variations, from the whimsical "Adventure with the Windmills" to the poignant "Defeat of Don Quixote By the Knight of the White Moon." Each variation is a testament to Kempe's skill in guiding the orchestra through the intricate and dynamic score.

Following this epic journey, the album presents three iconic overtures: "The Flying Dutchman, WWV 63" and "Tannhäuser, WWV 70" by Richard Wagner, and the dramatic "Prologue" from Wagner's "The Twilight of the Gods, WWV 86D." These overtures are not just musical introductions but are stand-alone masterpieces that highlight Kempe's ability to draw out the depth and drama of each composition.

The album concludes with "Siegfried’s Rhine Journey" from "The Twilight of the Gods," a piece that showcases Kempe's prowess in conducting Wagner's complex and powerful orchestral works. With a total duration of 1 hour and 13 minutes, this album is a comprehensive exploration of some of the most legendary works in classical music, conducted by one of the most revered figures in the field. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Rudolf Kempe's interpretation of these timeless pieces is sure to leave a lasting impression.
