About Jiří Bárta

Jiří Bárta is a renowned Czech cellist, celebrated as one of the leading figures of his generation. Born in Prague, his musical journey began under the tutelage of esteemed mentors such as Josef Chuchr and Mirko Škampy in Prague, Boris Pergamenschikow in Cologne, and Eleonore Schoenfeld in Los Angeles. By the early 1990s, Jiří had established himself among Europe's elite, performing across the continent and beyond, from North and South America to various European stages.

Jiří's artistry extends beyond his virtuoso performances. He co-founded the Kutná Hora Chamber Music Festival, a unique event that bridges the worlds of contemporary and classical music. Additionally, from 1997 to 2019, Jiří led the Nadace Via, a foundation dedicated to promoting art and community engagement in the Czech Republic. His contributions to music and culture have left an indelible mark, making Jiří Bárta a true ambassador of Czech musical heritage.
