At last, what a delight to finally listen to this wonderful album on vinyl!
I'm particularly fond of Jan Garbarek for his unique partnerships with musicians from genres I'd never anticipate a saxophone, so deeply rooted in American music, to explore. Take, for instance, his team-up with Fateh Ali Khan, an unexpected fusion of east and west, beautifully blending the rich, warm layers of Hindustani/Ragastani music with Garbarek's smooth tones. I truly admire his courage to challenge conventions, and here, with Anouar's Oud and Shaukat's Table, he creates a truly special experience. I'm definitely eager to explore more of his work. While I can't say this album showcases all three artists at their peak, the opening and closing tracks hint at a remarkable record in the making. Sull Lull and Qaws are standout tracks for me, utilizing all artists effectively. Otherwise, it's primarily Anouar's Oud taking center stage, which I enjoy, but I was hoping for a bit more variety from this project.
