I must have struck gold with my purchase because the audio is crisp with a strong bass. The only hiss I noticed was between tracks and there was no warping at all. I got it second-hand from a vinyl store, so their quality check probably filtered out any damaged or warped used copies.
In this album, Chvrches leaned more towards pop and less towards indie. It's generally high-quality, well-produced music, although it might have strayed a bit too close to Taylor Swift's style. However, they squashed the CD's dynamics to extremes, and despite Lauren's vocal improvements, they've been turned up so loud that it's difficult to listen to. Because of these issues, I much prefer their first two albums.
The fresh-out-of-the-box version I got had a huge scratch running through the final couple of tunes on side two. What a letdown. It appears that quality control is pretty inconsistent.
Glassnote did a fantastic job on this album's pressing. The sound is awesome, and it's nice and quiet. It even includes a double-sided lyric insert. I'm a huge fan of CHVRCHES.
The sound quality on this one is fantastic. It's got a deep, rich bass and vocals that are crystal clear—really brings out the dynamics. No hissing, pops, or any of that usual surface noise. It's a fantastic pressing. Even sounds better than the white vinyl from the last album. Plus, the blue vinyl is really eye-catching!
