Alright, alright, alright, managed to get a sealed copy (5th lacquer?) in 2022, a whole decade after it came out. If this was a brand new release with plenty of replacements available, I'd be sending it right back. Giving the first LP a spin for the first time, it's a bit off, the whole thing is misaligned and shaky. Plus, there's quite a few pops and clicks, it's just plain noisy. Blue Note quality? Yeah, right.Music is fantastic, though, quite a lively recording with a great punch. The pressing, however, is a perfect example of what's gone wrong with vinyl these days...Edit: the 2nd LP isn't any better (still wonky, still wobbly, still off-center), with a lead-in-area that's so warped the needle jumps into the first track on my side C ...Steer clear unless you're a die-hard Norah Jones fan...
This album is absolutely fantastic, with top-notch sound quality that I'm really enjoying. I'm a big fan of Greg Calbi's pressing and mastering work on this one. That said, I'm not a fan of the white vinyl, as it's hard to tell what kind of shape the record is in. And even though the sound is incredible, there's a bit of surface noise that I could do without.
The audio quality on my version is fantastic! It's got that extra deep bass! This is my all-time favorite Norah Jones record.
Absolutely breathtaking remaster, cut, pressing and packaging. From start to finish, it's flawless. It's got some fantastic range, with a low end that's incredibly powerful and warm. You couldn't possibly extract any more from this album in this format. I really hope other DangerMouse produced albums receive this level of care, especially Michael Kiwanuka's work.
