Product description

Dive into the hauntingly beautiful world of Type O Negative with their sixth studio album, "Life Is Killing Me," released on June 17, 2003. This masterful collection of songs is a testament to the band's unique blend of gothic and doom metal, delivering an hour and fourteen minutes of pure, unadulterated darkness. The album, released under Roadrunner Records, features fifteen tracks that explore themes of despair, longing, and the human condition, all wrapped in Type O Negative's signature melancholic sound.

"Life Is Killing Me" kicks off with the haunting "Thir13teen" and takes listeners on a journey through the depths of the human psyche with tracks like "I Don't Wanna Be Me," "Less Than Zero," and the chilling "How Could She?" The album also includes the fan-favorite "IYDKMIGTHTKY (Gimme That)" and the powerful "Angry Inch," showcasing the band's versatility and range. The album's final track, "The Dream Is Dead," leaves listeners with a sense of finality and resignation, tying the album together in a poignant bow.

Despite being leaked onto the internet before its official release, "Life Is Killing Me" remains a standout album in Type O Negative's discography, and a staple in the gothic metal genre. The album's unique sound, powerful lyrics, and haunting melodies make it a timeless classic that continues to resonate with fans and critics alike. So, dim the lights, turn up the volume, and let Type O Negative's "Life Is Killing Me" envelop you in its dark embrace.

This record clearly comes from Furnace Records. The green hue and top-notch quality are dead giveaways. It's absolutely stunning! The color matches perfectly with my band's green vinyl drop.

This is an amazing pressing, no doubt about it! Crank up the volume and enjoy. If you spot this at a reasonable price, grab it. This album has matured beautifully, like a fine red wine (cheers Pete). Absolutely in my top 3 faves from this band.

  • Audio Quality, High Price

    5 out of 5 stars
    SkJolOctober 8, 2024United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The audio quality is fantastic! But the price is way too high........ but that's becoming the norm these days, with greedy industry morons trying to make up for lost CD sales and all the people pirating music. They punish the few who still do the right thing and buy a physical copy. Well, they'll either wake up or keep hiking up prices and ruin the format, just like they did with CDs. People will eventually stop paying these ridiculous prices, and many already have!

  • Journey to a Tribute Album

Securing this album was a journey that took me a good three months of persistence. I'd preordered from deepdiscount, but one of the discs arrived damaged. The sleeve was fine, so the issue must've happened at the pressing plant. They took the return, but they didn't have any replacements available. In the end, I purchased it from elusive discs, who had it on sale. It came without any problems. I was really impressed with how this album was handled. It felt like a genuine tribute, not just a money grab. The sound quality is as good as I remember, and I play this album pretty often, both digitally and on CD. The engineer did a fantastic job. The music is perfectly balanced, with PS and his bass right where they should be. The kicks are punchy, and the riffs are massive. I won't dive too deep into the music, but their cover of "Angry Inch" made me watch Hedwig, which I'd say is my favorite musical.

  • Audio Quality Shines

    jazidgibpJuly 6, 2024United KingdomπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

The audio is spot on. The bass is rich and Peters' vocals are crystal clear. Every Type O reissue has been fantastic, just like Bloody/October. The grey/green vinyl is silent inside a tri-fold gatefold. The third LP is a great bonus, with sound quality matching the rest. The insert has notes about the band and album, plus comments from Josh Silver. One of the best bands of all time. 10/10 coffins ⚰️ πŸ’€

About Type O Negative

Type O Negative, hailing from the gritty streets of Brooklyn, New York City, was a pioneering force in the gothic and doom metal scenes. Formed in 1989, the band consisted of the charismatic Peter Steele on bass and vocals, Kenny Hickey on guitar, Josh Silver on keyboards, and Sal Abruscato on drums, who was later replaced by Johnny Kelly. Known for their dark, introspective lyrics that delved into themes of romance, depression, and death, Type O Negative earned the moniker "the Drab Four." Their unique sound, blending heavy metal with gothic and doom elements, captivated audiences worldwide. The band achieved significant commercial success with albums like "Bloody Kisses," which went platinum, and "October Rust," which went gold. Their discography includes seven studio albums and two best-of compilations, each offering a deep dive into their signature moody and atmospheric style. Type O Negative's influence extends beyond their music, with a distinctive visual aesthetic that often evoked a sense of vampiric romance and morbid elegance. Their impact on the metal genre is undeniable, making them a must-listen for fans of dark, emotive music.
