Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Guillaume Lekeu's "Trio et Quatuor avec piano," a stunning collection of chamber music that showcases the composer's remarkable talent and emotional depth. Released on June 1, 2012, under the ATMA Classique label, this album is a testament to Lekeu's enduring legacy in the classical music realm.

The album features two significant works: the "Trio avec piano en do mineur" and the "Quatuor avec piano et cordes en si mineur." The trio, composed of four movements, begins with a poignant "Lent - Allegro," followed by a reflective "Très Lent," an energetic "Très animé," and concludes with a somber "Lent." The quartet, consisting of two movements, opens with a passionate "Dans un emportement douloureux et très animé" and closes with a deeply expressive "Lent et passionné."

Spanning a total of 66 minutes, this album is a journey through the highs and lows of human emotion, expertly conveyed through Lekeu's masterful compositions. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Trio et Quatuor avec piano" is sure to leave a lasting impression.

About Guillaume Lekeu

Guillaume Lekeu, born in 1870 in Verviers, Belgium, was a prodigious composer whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 24. Despite his brief career, Lekeu left behind a significant body of work that has captivated audiences and musicians alike. His compositions, primarily in the chamber music genre, showcase a remarkable depth and maturity that belies his young age. Lekeu's Piano Quartet in B minor, commissioned by the renowned violinist Eugène Ysaÿe, is a standout piece that highlights his mastery of form and emotion. Born into a family of a wool merchant, Lekeu's musical journey began at the conservatory, where he honed his skills and developed his unique voice. His untimely death in 1894 robbed the world of a promising talent, but his music continues to inspire and enchant, offering a glimpse into what might have been.
