Product description

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Franz Lehár's operetta masterpiece, "Wo die Lerche singt," a captivating exploration of love, deception, and self-discovery. Released in 2015, this album captures the essence of Lehár's genius, offering a rich tapestry of melodies that will resonate with both opera enthusiasts and casual listeners alike.

The story unfolds with the innocence of a young country girl who finds herself torn between her fiancé and a charismatic painter. As she ventures into the city, she encounters the painter's true love, leading her to a poignant realization about her own desires and the true meaning of love. The operetta is brought to life by a stellar cast, including Else Macha, Marius Burkert, and Sieglinde Feldhofer, accompanied by the renowned Großes Wiener Rundfunkorchester and the Chor des Lehár Festivals Bad Ischl.

"Wo die Lerche singt" is a testament to Franz Lehár's ability to blend heartfelt lyrics with unforgettable music. The grand finale of Act I, featuring the palotas of the harvest chorus, is a highlight that showcases Lehár's mastery of creating electrifying and memorable music. With a running time of approximately 1 hour and 34 minutes, this album is a comprehensive journey through Lehár's operetta, featuring 29 tracks that seamlessly weave together to tell a compelling story.

Whether you're a fan of classical music or simply appreciate a well-crafted narrative, "Wo die Lerche singt" is an album that will leave a lasting impression. The meticulous attention to detail in the performances and the timeless appeal of Lehár's compositions make this a standout addition to any music collection.

About Franz Lehár

Franz Lehár, born in 1870 in Komárno, Kingdom of Hungary (now Slovakia), was a renowned Austro-Hungarian composer who left an indelible mark on the world of operetta. Throughout his illustrious career spanning over five decades, Lehár enchanted audiences with his lighthearted and comic works, becoming one of the most significant composers of operetta in classical music history. His most celebrated creation, "The Merry Widow" (Die lustige Witwe), achieved global acclaim and remains his most famous piece. Lehár's compositions are celebrated for their fine craftsmanship and enduring charm. Despite initial aspirations towards grand opera, it was his operettas that secured his legacy, making him the leading composer of operettas in the 20th century. Lehár passed away in Bad Ischl in 1948, leaving behind a substantial body of work that continues to captivate and inspire.
