Product description

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Franz Lehár's operetta masterpiece, "Schön ist die Welt," released in 2015 under the Walhall Eternity Series label. This captivating opera, spanning approximately 1 hour and 24 minutes, is a testament to Lehár's brilliance in composing operetta music that beautifully blends drama, romance, and wit.

The album is divided into three acts, each filled with a rich tapestry of musical numbers and dialogues that bring the story to life. From the introductory notes of Act I to the dramatic finale of Act III, Lehár's compositions are performed with exquisite skill by the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by the maestro himself. The vocal talents of Ester Rethy add a touch of elegance and depth to the performance, making it a standout piece in the classical music repertoire.

"Schön ist die Welt" is not just an opera; it's an experience that transports you to a world of love, intrigue, and adventure. The opera's title, which translates to "Beautiful World," sets the tone for a story that celebrates the beauty and complexity of human emotions. The music, ranging from tender arias to lively ensembles, perfectly captures the essence of each character and their journey.

The album features a variety of tracks, including the enchanting "Wie süß muss die Liebe sein," the playful "Bruder Leichtsinn, so werd' ich genannt," and the dramatic "Stellen Sie den Apparat ab!" Each track is a gem in its own right, showcasing Lehár's ability to create memorable melodies and harmonies that resonate with the listener.

Whether you are a seasoned operetta enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Schön ist die Welt" offers a delightful and engaging listening experience. The combination of Lehár's timeless compositions, the stellar performance by the Vienna Philharmonic, and the captivating storytelling makes this album a true treasure in the world of classical music.

About Franz Lehár

Franz Lehár, born in 1870 in Komárno, Kingdom of Hungary (now Slovakia), was a renowned Austro-Hungarian composer who left an indelible mark on the world of operetta. Throughout his illustrious career spanning over five decades, Lehár enchanted audiences with his lighthearted and comic works, becoming one of the most significant composers of operetta in classical music history. His most celebrated creation, "The Merry Widow" (Die lustige Witwe), achieved global acclaim and remains his most famous piece. Lehár's compositions are celebrated for their fine craftsmanship and enduring charm. Despite initial aspirations towards grand opera, it was his operettas that secured his legacy, making him the leading composer of operettas in the 20th century. Lehár passed away in Bad Ischl in 1948, leaving behind a substantial body of work that continues to captivate and inspire.
