Waheeda Rehman, born on February 3, 1938, in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, is an iconic figure in Hindi cinema, celebrated for her remarkable contributions spanning over five decades. Hailing from a traditional Tamil-speaking Muslim family, Waheeda's journey began with a passion for dancing, which she pursued professionally. Her film debut was in the Telugu movie "Rojulu Marayi" (1955), but it was her work in Hindi films that brought her widespread recognition and acclaim. Known for her versatility and depth, Waheeda has starred in over 90 films, earning a National Film Award, two Filmfare Awards, and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2023. Her performances in classics like "Guide," "Pyaasa," and "Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam" have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Beyond her acting prowess, Waheeda is also a classical dancer and has been an ambassador for the non-profit organization Rang De. Her personal life reflects her grace and elegance, sharing a loving bond with her late husband, Kamaljeet. Waheeda Rehman's legacy is a testament to her enduring talent and influence in the world of cinema.
