Product description

Lee Konitz Meets Jimmy Giuffre is a seminal jazz album released in 1959, bringing together two virtuosic reed players, Lee Konitz and Jimmy Giuffre. This collaborative effort showcases the unique styles of both musicians, with Konitz's pure, cool sound on alto saxophone complemented by Giuffre's arrangements and solo work. The album features a delicate, contrapuntal writing style, creating a thoughtful mood that allows each musician to shine.

The nine-track album includes notable pieces such as 'Palo Alto', 'Darn That Dream', and 'Moonlight In Vermont', demonstrating the duo's mastery of cool jazz, bebop, and hard bop genres. With contributions from esteemed musicians like Bill Evans and Warne Marsh, the record is a treasure trove of rewarding moments. Lee Konitz's distinctive voice, which emerged as an alternative to Charlie Parker's in the 1940s, is on full display, making this album an essential listen for jazz enthusiasts.
