Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I reckon this album is among the greatest ever made, and it still ranks in my personal top 5 favorites. It might seem like a cliché, but if advanced aliens ever deem humanity as irredeemable, I'd want this album to serve as a powerful testament to our better nature. There's just one aspect I'd like to highlight that I didn't see stressed in the other (brilliantly written) reviews: "Air Song" is such a monumental masterpiece that it's almost overwhelming to comprehend. It makes you feel alive and grateful to experience such art!
This album is fantastic, and the matte cover looks amazing too. The vinyls are packaged outside the cover, which is nice. However, the quality control for the vinyl is just terrible. Mine arrived with sharp and chipped edges, and even some parts were missing! The sound quality was far from clear, honestly the worst vinyl I've ever encountered. I sent it back, and the replacement is much better, though there are still some sharp edges, but it's acceptable.
Wow, just wow! 5 stars, 5 stars!!, FIVE STARS!!! This is a review for the album, sure, but I gotta highlight the 2019 vinyl remastered version. Leaving Home is a WORK OF ART, no doubt about it. In my book, it's the best electronic/psybient album out there. It's all spacey and breezy, yet has these killer beats and a fun, laid-back vibe that's like a sonic romance. Magnus is a genius, and the tracks he's crafted here show off his crazy talent and imagination. If you're unsure about this album, stop it. It's a total must. If you're into psybient at all, you gotta have this in your collection.
Hidden gem in the downtempo genre, this one is. My copy's sound quality is quite impressive. There's a few crackles, pops, and snaps scattered about (especially at the start of "Monogram"), but hey, that's par for the course with vinyl these days. The inner sleeves, though, they don't sit right in that snug gatefold sleeve.
This Solar Fields album is my absolute favorite. It's pure, unadulterated happiness. Every single track fills me with overwhelming affection. It's as if the music is a present from the cosmos, from distant stars and galaxies. I'm absolutely in love with the brown marbled vinyl version! I must mention that the pressing quality is fantastic. It sounds absolutely incredible on my setup!
