About Germaine Cernay

Germaine Cernay, born Germaine Pointu on April 28, 1900, in Le Havre, France, was a captivating mezzo-soprano whose voice enchanted opera stages throughout her career. Initially aspiring to be a pianist, she discovered her true calling in vocal performance, studying at the prestigious Conservatoire of Paris. Her powerful and expressive voice made her a standout in the world of opera, leaving a lasting impact on her audience. Despite her career being cut short by her untimely death on September 19, 1943, in Paris, Germaine Cernay's recordings continue to resonate with opera enthusiasts, showcasing her remarkable talent and artistry.
