Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of chamber music with Friedrich August Kummer's "Kummer & Schubert: Duos for Violin & Cello." This album, released on July 8, 2016, under the Naxos label, showcases the exquisite collaboration between violinist Friedemann Eichhorn and cellist Alexander Hülshoff. Kummer, a founding figure of the Dresden School of cello-playing, presents a collection of duets that are as technically demanding as they are musically rewarding.

The album features six tracks, each a testament to Kummer's compositional prowess and the performers' virtuosity. From the fast runs and double stops to the intricate harmonics and pizzicato, these duets require impeccable ensemble playing. The pieces draw inspiration from various sources, including themes from operas by Hérold and Rossini, and folk tunes from Styria, offering a rich tapestry of musical influences.

With a duration of just over an hour, this album is a perfect blend of technical brilliance and melodic beauty. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, Kummer's duets promise an engaging and enriching listening experience.
