Product description

Composed by the renowned Israeli composer Noam Sheriff, "Konzert für die Nationen 2018" is a profound and evocative orchestral work that commemorates the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the infamous pogrom that marked the beginning of the Holocaust. Recorded live at the University of the Arts Berlin's concert hall on November 9, 2018, this powerful piece was performed by the Symphonieorchester der Universität der Künste Berlin under the baton of Steven Sloane.

The album is structured into four interconnected movements, each exploring a different aspect of Jewish history and resilience. "Mechaye Hametim 1. Jüdisches Leben in der Diaspora bis zum Holocaust" sets the stage by depicting Jewish life in the diaspora leading up to the Holocaust. The second movement, "Mechaye Hametim 2. Der Holocaust," is a haunting and somber reflection on the atrocities committed during the Holocaust. The third movement, "Mechaye Hametim 3. Kaddish und Yiskor," offers a moment of remembrance and prayer for the victims. The album concludes with "Mechaye Hametim 4. Wiederbelebung und Renaissance," a hopeful and uplifting exploration of Jewish revival and renewal.

Written in Hebrew, "Konzert für die Nationen 2018" is a testament to the enduring power of music to honor the past, inspire the present, and shape the future. With a duration of 48 minutes, this captivating album is a powerful tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and a celebration of Jewish resilience and renewal. Released on November 6, 2019, by betont - Label der Universität der Künste Berlin, this album is a significant addition to Noam Sheriff's discography and a poignant reminder of the importance of remembrance and hope.
