Upon initially experiencing this album's digital version, I thought, absolutely, I must have this on vinyl. Fast forward to 2023, I've finally taken off the shrink wrap and I'm truly, truly let down by the quality. The audio really should've been so much better.
This album's mix is quite subdued, lacking some crispness on the higher end, and I find it a tad bass-heavy. It's also a bit scratchy in spots, even after a good clean. It's a real bummer because it's such a fantastic album and really deserved a better quality release.
Received my order today along with the stunning "Black Sands" LP by Bonobo. Honestly, the contrast is shocking. It's all muddled and heavy, like it's underwater. Really disappointed, since this is one of the albums that inspired me to get a turntable in the first place.
I get what S3phiRotH means by saying 'meh', but for me, I'd probably describe this album as more 'chill' or 'relaxed'. It's certainly the kind of music you'd have playing softly in the background, yet it's got a great feel to it from beginning to end. I find myself enjoying it more with each listen. And as for the pressing, nothing to complain about here. It's done well.
