Product description

Wojciech Kilar, a renowned Polish composer, presents a profound and moving musical experience with his album "September Symphony / Lament." Released on May 1, 2010, under the CD Accord label, this album spans a duration of 54 minutes, offering a deep dive into Kilar's evocative compositional style.

The album is divided into two main works: "Lament" and the four-movement "September Symphony." "Lament" is a single, powerful piece that sets the tone for the album with its haunting melodies and rich orchestration. The "September Symphony" unfolds in a series of contrasting movements—"I. Largo," "II. Allegro," "III. Largo," and "IV. Moderato"—each offering a unique emotional landscape. The symphony's structure allows Kilar to explore a range of moods and themes, from somber introspection to lively exuberance.

Kilar's mastery of orchestration and his ability to convey deep emotion through music are evident throughout this album. Whether you're a longtime fan of classical music or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, "September Symphony / Lament" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience. The album showcases Kilar's unique voice and his ability to create music that resonates on a deeply personal level.

About Wojciech Kilar

Wojciech Kilar, the renowned Polish composer, left an indelible mark on both the classical and film music landscapes. Born in 1932, Kilar's compositions are celebrated for their emotive depth and cinematic grandeur. His breakthrough came with the hauntingly beautiful score for Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" in 1992, which garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards, including the ASCAP Award and a nomination for the Saturn Award. Kilar's talent shone brightly again with his evocative score for Roman Polanski's "The Pianist," earning him the César Award and a BAFTA nomination in 2003. Throughout his career, Kilar's music transcended mere accompaniment, becoming an integral part of the storytelling process. His works, such as those for "Death and the Maiden," continue to captivate audiences worldwide. Kilar's contributions to music were recognized with Poland's highest distinction, the Order of the White Eagle, in 2012. His legacy endures, inspiring both filmmakers and music enthusiasts alike.
