Product description

Dive into the captivating world of Aaron Jay Kernis with his 2005 album, "Kernis: Symphony No. 2, Musica Celestis & Invisible Mosaic III." This minimalist masterpiece, released under the Phoenix USA label, is a testament to Kernis's unique compositional style and his ability to create intricate, yet accessible, musical landscapes.

The album opens with the powerful Symphony No. 2, a three-movement work that explores a range of emotions and dynamics. The first movement, "Alarm," sets an intense tone, while the second, "Air - Ground," offers a more introspective mood. The symphony concludes with "Barricade," a movement that builds to a dramatic climax.

Following the symphony, the album presents "Musica Celestis," a piece that evokes a sense of celestial beauty and tranquility. The album concludes with "Invisible Mosaic III," a work that showcases Kernis's ability to weave together complex rhythms and harmonies into a cohesive and engaging whole.

Throughout the album, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hugh Wolff, delivers a stunning performance, bringing Kernis's intricate compositions to life. With a total runtime of just under an hour, this album is a perfect introduction to the world of minimalist classical music and the extraordinary talent of Aaron Jay Kernis.
