Product description

Joseph Horovitz's "Four Concertos" is a captivating classical album released in 2007 under the Dutton Epoch label. This collection showcases four of Horovitz's nine concertos, each offering a distinct and uniquely English musical experience. The album features a diverse range of instruments, including clarinet, euphonium, violin, and piano, each paired with either a string orchestra or chamber orchestra, creating a rich and varied soundscape.

The concerto's are structured in a traditional three-movement format, reflecting a classical approach that balances allegro, adagio, and allegretto tempos. The performances are brought to life by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, with notable soloists such as Andrew Haveron on violin, Fiona Cross on clarinet, Jeremy Brown on euphonium, and Matt Skelton on percussion. The album also includes a Jazz Concerto for Piano, Strings & Percussion, adding a dynamic and contemporary twist to the classical repertoire.

With a total runtime of 1 hour and 14 minutes, "Four Concertos" offers a comprehensive exploration of Joseph Horovitz's compositional prowess. The album is a testament to his ability to blend traditional forms with modern influences, resulting in a collection that is both timeless and innovative. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album promises an engaging and enriching listening experience.
