About Joe "Fingers" Carr

Joe "Fingers" Carr, born Louis Ferdinand Busch on July 18, 1910, in Louisville, Kentucky, was a versatile American musician, songwriter, and record producer whose career spanned multiple genres, including ragtime, swing, exotica, and honky-tonk. Known for his lively piano performances, Carr was heavily influenced by the legendary Art Tatum, though he never quite reached the same level of acclaim. His most notable work includes the 1950 release "Ivory Rag," performed under his pseudonym and accompanied by his Carr Hops. Carr's music offers a vibrant journey through mid-20th-century American sounds, blending technical skill with a distinctive, engaging style that continues to captivate audiences. He passed away on September 19, 1979, in Camarillo, California, leaving behind a legacy of lively, memorable tunes.
