Product description

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Renaissance music with Paul O'Dette's "Italian Renaissance Dances Vol. 2." This captivating album, released on December 10, 1994, under the Harmonia Mundi label, is a testament to the exquisite artistry of Paul O'Dette and his collaborators, The King's Noyse and David Douglass. Spanning a generous 78 minutes, the album features 28 tracks that showcase the elegance and intricacy of Italian Renaissance dances and madrigals.

Recorded in October 1993 at the Campion Center in Boston, MA, this collection is a blend of instrumental and vocal pieces, performed with precision and passion. The album includes works by renowned composers such as Cipriano de Rore and Giovanni Bassano, as well as anonymous pieces from the Chilesotti and Bottegari Lutebooks. Paul O'Dette's mastery of the lute is evident in every track, complemented by the virtuosic performances of David Douglass on the viol and the ensemble playing of The King's Noyse.

From the lively "Saltarello detto Trivella" to the hauntingly beautiful "Dove son quei fieri occhi?", each piece offers a unique glimpse into the musical landscape of the Renaissance. The album also features several divisions, or elaborate variations, on well-known tunes, showcasing the technical prowess and creative genius of the performers. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast of early music or a curious newcomer, "Italian Renaissance Dances Vol. 2" promises a delightful and enriching listening experience.
