About Sylvia Telles

Sylvia Telles, born Silvia D'Atri Telles, was a pioneering Brazilian vocalist whose crystal-clear voice and emotive delivery made her one of the foremost female artists of the bossa nova and Brazilian jazz scenes in the 1950s and 1960s. Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Telles' career was tragically cut short by a car accident in 1966, but her legacy endures through her captivating recordings. Her discography, though largely out of print, features stunning interpretations of both original compositions and classic standards, showcasing her remarkable range and artistry. Telles' ability to infuse each song with warmth and intimacy made her a beloved figure in Brazilian music, and her influence can still be heard in the work of contemporary artists. Despite her untimely death at the age of 32, Sylvia Telles' music continues to enchant and inspire, a testament to her enduring talent and the timeless appeal of her artistry.
