  • Album Quality Impressive

    5 out of 5 stars
    voebddtuorgecDecember 24, 2025United States🇺🇸

The quality of this album and its packaging absolutely knocked me out. The art prints are top-notch and the record's mix is incredibly punchy and crisp. It's just fantastic!

  • MBV's Groundbreaking Noise Evolution

    5 out of 5 stars
    deunuDecember 7, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

This album was a tough nut to crack at first, I must admit. Initially, the opening track struck me as completely off-key, and the rest of the songs came across as confusing and loud. I gave up halfway through and stashed it away. But after a few weeks, I gave it another shot, and boy, was I blown away by the change in my perspective. What once turned me off now came through with such expression, and that first track? It's grown on me big time. My Bloody Valentine were truly a groundbreaking band, and I'll risk the cliché: they were way ahead of their time. Just check out the album art—it's hard to believe it's from '88, it looks like it could've dropped today. "Isn't Anything" makes it clear that MBV were rock at heart, and some tracks here are tinged with that classic (punk?) rock sound. But the really fascinating stuff is where they mix things up, layering atmospheric, heavily filtered sounds—I'd call it "pretty noise"—over the traditional rock setup. It's not just the use of electronic instruments that makes this album stand out as influential electronic music. What's truly groundbreaking is the production style: the mixing and manipulation of the recorded material as a form of composition. This album doesn't feel like a live performance; instead, it's a unique creation within the recorded medium. That's the real essence of electronic music. The album might feel a bit patchy, like the tracks were recorded at different times or in different settings (I could be wrong, though). But I don't see that as a flaw—it makes for interesting pacing and dynamic shifts. You'll find yourself in a droning, washy track, then suddenly thrown back into sharp guitar riffs. It's a challenging listen, but I think it's worth the effort. MBV has definitely left their mark on contemporary electronic artists—not just the "indietronica" scene, but many others too. Dntel's "Life is Full of Possibilites" has been a favorite of mine for years, and certain tracks on that record owe a lot to MBV. But more broadly, I think they pioneered a new style of composition that pushed rock in a fresh direction, resulting in some of the most expressive "noise" I've ever heard.

  • First Noise Complaint Album

Received my initial noise complaint ever due to this album. 10/10, it's fantastic

  • Dissonant Punk Without Harmony

    2 out of 5 stars
    XurpmogzupeycDecember 3, 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm quite into music that many would deem as dissonant, and I often manage to find a kind of deeper or synergistic harmony, a skill of the musicians that I can value. Not here, though. To me, this is dissonant just for the sake of being dissonant, with no underlying concept. I'd call it punk if I were to categorize it, and that would be a compliment. The pressing is top-notch, and the vinyl quality is pretty good, as many have rightly noted. But I'm skeptical that the analog remastering would make any difference with this "music." Still, I'll stay uninformed since I'm not even thinking about giving it a spin.

  • Disappointing Record Reissue

    5 out of 5 stars
    yuxfupvNovember 30, 2025United States🇺🇸

This record continues to transport me to places I've never been before. But this version, it's a real let down, quality-wise! We're still waiting for a proper reissue.

About my bloody valentine

My Bloody Valentine, the iconic Irish alternative rock band, is renowned for their groundbreaking contributions to the shoegaze and dream pop genres. Formed in the late 1980s, the band gained legendary status with their 1991 album "Loveless," a masterpiece that continues to influence modern rock. Known for their signature sound of buried vocals, both hauntingly sweet and bubbling through the noise, and their intricate, rhythmic layers, My Bloody Valentine's music is an immersive experience. Despite releasing only one album since 1991, their impact remains immense, with fans eagerly anticipating their rare live performances. The band's lineup, featuring Kevin Shields, Colm Ó Cíosóig, Debbie Googe, and Bilinda Butcher, has reunited multiple times, most recently announcing a one-off live show for late 2025. My Bloody Valentine's music is not just about the songs; it's about the atmosphere and the emotional journey they take you on.
