Product description

Death's iconic album, Individual Thought Patterns, is a masterclass in technical death metal, showcasing the band's innovative and intricate approach to the genre. Released on 25 October 2011 via Relapse Records, this comprehensive collection is a treasure trove for fans, featuring not only the original tracks but also an array of live recordings and demos.

The album itself is a testament to Death's skill and craftsmanship, with tracks like 'Overactive Imagination', 'In Human Form', and 'The Philosopher' demonstrating the band's ability to craft complex, melodic, and aggressive songs that push the boundaries of death metal. The live recordings, captured in Germany on 13 April 1993, showcase the band's intense energy and technical prowess, with blistering performances of tracks like 'Leprosy', 'Suicide Machine', and 'Trapped in a Corner'.

The demos and outtakes offer a fascinating glimpse into the band's creative process, with early versions of tracks like 'Individual Thought Patterns', 'Jealousy', and 'Nothing Is Everything' providing insight into the development of the album. Chuck's riff tape recordings from 1992 add an extra layer of depth, highlighting the band's attention to detail and commitment to their craft.

With a duration of 2 hours and 19 minutes, Individual Thought Patterns is a substantial and rewarding listen, spanning multiple genres including death metal, thrash metal, grindcore, melodic death metal, and black metal. Death's influence can be heard throughout the metal landscape, and this album is a testament to their enduring legacy. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the band, Individual Thought Patterns is an essential listen that showcases Death's innovative spirit and technical mastery.

  • Remastered Original Sounds Distinct

    5 out of 5 stars
    XoxvlPudmDecember 15, 2025United States🇺🇸

This is a rather fascinating pressing. It's a remaster of the original version and sounds quite distinct from the modern re-releases that are essentially complete remixes (all recent vinyl pressings and CDs). I'd say it sounds quite nice, maybe a tad more clouded and veiled than the original release but it softens some of the harshness. It needs to be turned up loud (which I haven't been able to do yet) to truly appreciate the differences in tone.

  • Death's Intense Sonic Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    bosdit40December 15, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Fantastic album by an incredible band. The amazing lineup (Schuldiner, La Rocque, Di Giorgio, Hoglan) made this record stand out in Death's discography. Every instrument is clear and Steve Di Giorgio's fretless bass is loud enough to showcase his mastery. From the start with 'Overactive imagination' to the end with 'The philosopher', you'll experience an intense sonic assault. Some Death fans don't like this album while others call it the best. I won't go that far but I highly recommend it to anyone who loves great music.

  • Remix Drummer's Track

    4 out of 5 stars
    Exzhac57December 12, 2025United States🇺🇸

like the others mentioned, the remix guy's probly a drummer... guitars and vocals are too quiet... not a bad track overall

  • Drummer's Remix, Quiet Track

    4 out of 5 stars
    Ebxzah94December 12, 2025United States🇺🇸

like the other guy said, the one who remixed this must've been a drummer... guitars and vocals are way too quiet... all in all, not a terrible track

  • Stunning Remastered Death Album

    5 out of 5 stars
    wuvenhxezevoNovember 5, 2025United States🇺🇸

The color scheme is absolutely stunning and matches the original album artwork perfectly. The audio is the 2011 remaster by Allen Douches, which I believe really brings out the nuances of this masterpiece and sounds even better on vinyl than my CD version. All around, it's a fantastic reissue. Long live Evil Chuck and DEATH!!!
