Bring me back, bring me back, bring me way way way back..." Gentle, bluesy, and incredibly intense, this album is impossible to ignore. I'm tempted to say it's his best work, but it's certainly among his finest. His lyrics don't provide clear answers, but they offer profound insights that let you find your own. He's assembled a fantastic band that seems to perfectly grasp his vision for this moment. Van has a recurring theme here—his endless misadventures, his disdain for the music industry, and his longing for his childhood in Belfast. Van has had his share of troubles with the music industry; they once even tried to frame him with drugs. He's sung about this before, and each time, it brings a smile to my face knowing he's outsmarted their tricks for over forty years. As for his youth, it's unclear if he's singing about his real past or an imagined one. From exploring his other songs on this topic, it's a fascinating listen. Overall, this is an outstanding release that shouldn't be missed. Review by Jenell Kesler
