Product description

Dive into the avant-garde world of Ed Harkins with "House of Mirrors," a captivating album released on August 5, 2008, under the Clean Feed label. This experimental journey is a collaborative effort featuring the virtuoso talents of Mark Dresser on bass and Steven Schick on percussion, alongside Harkins' masterful trumpet playing.

"House of Mirrors" is an exploration of rhythmic complexities and challenging passages, cleverly woven through eight intricate tracks: "Xonia," "Flumbus," "Scrubble," "Oscula," "Rebus," "Floxy," "Moa," and "Scuzzy." About Ed Harkins

Ed Harkins is a multifaceted artist whose work spans the realms of avant-garde, free jazz, and experimental music. With a rich academic background, having studied composition at prestigious institutions like Yale University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Iowa, Ed honed his craft under the guidance of notable mentors such as Mel Powell and Ralph Shapey. For over four decades, he shared his knowledge and passion as a professor at the University of California, San Diego, teaching a graduate-level seminar on advanced rhythm reading.

Ed's musical journey is as unique as his compositions. He met his collaborator Philip Larson on a golf course in Illinois, leading them to the Center for Music Experiment, a Rockefeller-supported research initiative.
