This pressing would've been nearly perfect for me, but unfortunately, side B had terrible popping throughout, despite it being a brand new copy I picked up at the Boris/Melvins show. The other sides, though, are absolutely pristine. I'm also not a huge fan of the tracklist changes from the original CD release in this re-release, especially how Rattlesnake is treated as a bonus track. I don't mind the two demos at the end or even Dronevil's placement, as that track fits the album perfectly. Still, I have to question the reasoning behind these changes. I won't criticize the decision too harshly, as I'm just happy that Heavy Rocks 2002 is available on vinyl at all, and this pressing is great. However, I kinda wish they had just done a single LP with the original CD tracklist.
Hands down, this is my all-time top pick from Boris. It never gets tiresome. A total banger start to finish.
Ever since I first listened to this album ages ago, it's been a top favorite of mine. Stoked to finally own it on vinyl, and the audio quality is fantastic. It's crisp, powerful, and heavy as can be. Just how it ought to be. This one's got way better sound than some of the other TMR re-releases out there. 10/10, no doubt about it.
The vinyl release is perfect and I'm thrilled that this iconic album is finally available on record.
I'm utterly baffled as to why Heavy Rocks (v1.0) and Flood are yet to see a vinyl release. These albums have been beloved by fans for over ten years, and Boris supporters are known for their willingness to invest in vinyl. There's no better time than now! The band's unpredictable output since Smile has left many long-time followers feeling disconnected. I'd bet that a couple of solid reminders of Takeshi, Wata & Atsuo at their peak would win back quite a few of us...
