Product description

Isabelle van Keulen's 1984 album "Haydn: Violin Concerto No. 1 / Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 2" is a captivating journey through the classical repertoire, showcasing the virtuosity of one of the most accomplished violinists of her generation. This album, released under the Decca Music Group Ltd. label, features Isabelle van Keulen in a stunning performance of two iconic violin concertos, accompanied by the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Antoni Ros-Marbà.

The album opens with Joseph Haydn's Violin Concerto No. 1 in C major, a work that exemplifies the composer's elegant and inventive style. Van Keulen's playing is marked by its technical precision and expressive depth, bringing out the subtleties and nuances of Haydn's composition. The concerto's three movements—Allegro moderato, Adagio, and Finale (Presto)—are performed with a sense of clarity and passion that highlights the interplay between the soloist and the orchestra.

The second half of the album is dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 2 in D major, K.211. This concerto is a testament to Mozart's genius, blending lyrical beauty with technical brilliance. Van Keulen's interpretation is both sensitive and dynamic, capturing the essence of Mozart's musical language. The concerto's three movements—Allegro moderato, Andante, and Rondeau (Allegro)—are rendered with a sense of elegance and vitality that makes this performance a standout.

Throughout the album, Isabelle van Keulen's mastery of the violin is evident, as she navigates the intricate passages and expressive melodies with ease. The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra provides a rich and supportive backdrop, with Antoni Ros-Marbà's direction ensuring a cohesive and harmonious performance. The album's duration of 41 minutes offers a concise yet fulfilling listening experience, making it a valuable addition to any classical music enthusiast's collection. Whether you are a seasoned listener or new to classical music, this album promises a delightful and enriching experience.
